What is Surplus?

Surplus is a monthly expense tracker that takes into account your monthly income, expenses and upcoming payments to provide you with a clear overview of your left over spend (i.e surplus).

How does it work?

When you launch the app for the first time, Surplus will ask for your monthly income and any recurring payments. The app supports a wide variety of recurring transactions including subscriptions and installments.

If you happen to skip the walkthrough, you can always set up your income from the settings screen and set recurring payments when adding transactions

As you record expenses, the Surplus Widget on the dashboard will always give an update-to-date overview of your leftover spend. Tapping on the widget will display a more detail breakdown of your income, current expenses and any upcoming transactions for the current month.

In fact, all spend calculations displayed in the app take into account both your current and scheduled transactions for the given month, giving you a clear view of your expenditure.

What's with the Buckets?

Each transaction belongs in a , which is a form of grouping similar transactions. Each bucket is either a needs, wants or a savings bucket. To start we provide you with three buckets conveniently named "Essentials", "Wants" and "Savings". You can edit and add buckets that best fits your spending habits.
