Surplus is all about staying ahead of your expenses and provides you with a simple yet flexible method of tracking your subscriptions and installments.
There are a couple of ways to create recurring expenses:
Tapping on the "Repeat" option when adding a a new transaction
Tapping on "Mark as Recurring" when viewing a transaction's details
Once the recurring transaction flow is initiated, you'll be presented with selecting the frequency type
Frequency type determines how the app will schedule and calculate your upcoming payments.
Recurring Payment: Payments that occur frequently with an optional end date. Common examples are monthly subscriptions, rent, insurance or utility bills.
Installment Payment: Refers to a payment that is one of several equal payments. Common examples are financing and "buy now, pay later" transactions
Once a type is selected, you'll be presented with specific options such as the frequency interval (i.e monthly, yearly, etc) and optional end dates or transaction counts.
When you create or mark a transaction as a recurring payment, upcoming transactions for the month are displayed when viewing a specific bucket's details
Tapping on them will allow you view details such as remaining payments in the event of an installment as well as payment history.
Surplus will factor in your upcoming transactions for the month when displaying total spend calculations and left over spend.
